In May 2025, Antonio Acosta-Rua, Counsellor to the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Cuba, held a courtesy visit with the Apostolic Nunciature in Havana and was received by Archbishop Antoine Camilleri, Apostolic Nuncio to Cuba. Alina Perez also participated in the visit. The meeting built on an existing relationship between the Apostolic Nunciature and the Order of Malta, and supported continued coordination in service of charitable works.

The visit provided an opportunity to introduce the Embassy’s humanitarian mission in Cuba and to strengthen direct communication for continued coordination. The discussion reaffirmed a shared commitment to charitable works serving people in need, carried out through established pastoral and community initiatives.

The Embassy expresses its gratitude for the welcome received and reiterates its willingness to continue close cooperation with Church partners in support of the most vulnerable.
