The Ambassador

Silvano Maria Pedrollo was appointed as Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Cuba by the Grand Master Fra’ John Dunlap in 2023. Prior to assuming this position, Ambassador Pedrollo served as Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Guyana (2000–2003) and as Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Malta (2004–2007). Since March 2021, he has held the position of Special Envoy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Marian Shrine of Medjugorje (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Ambassador Pedrollo was invested in the Order of Malta in 1997. Since then, he has received numerous recognitions, including:

  • Cross of Grand Officer of Merit of the Order of Malta (2006)
  • Grand Cross of Merit of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (2015; Grand Master Festing)
  • Grand Cross of Magistral Grace (2022; Lieutenant of the Grand Master Dunlap)

  • Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Gregory (2008; Pope Benedict XVI)
  • Mother Teresa “Flower of Gratitude” Award (2022; Pope Francis)

 

Likewise, he has received numerous professional and philanthropic accolades in Italy, Albania, Bangladesh, Brazil, Georgia, Macedonia, and Ukraine.

In his professional career, Ambassador Pedrollo, an engineer by training, founded Pedrollo S.p.A., a pump manufacturer, in Verona, Italy, in 1974. Today, the Pedrollo Group markets its products in over 160 countries. The Pedrollo Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the organization, has played a crucial role in numerous humanitarian projects worldwide.
