Ambassador meets with Director of Europe and Canada of Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ambassador Justin Simpson met with Ambassador Gisela Garcia Rivera, Director of Europe and Canada at Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), to discuss several topics of mutual interest. The productive meeting focused on the exchange of information, development of cooperation opportunities, and the upcoming Council Complete of State to elect a new Grand Master of the Order of Malta.

During the meeting, both ambassadors provided insightful information on their respective missions and activities, as well as challenges they face. To fortify relationships and improve their capacity to help those in need, they also explored prospects for collaboration in a variety of sectors, including health care and elderly care, among others.

One of the key topics of conversation was the upcoming Council Complete of State to elect a new Grand Master of the Order of Malta, which will take place in Rome on May 2nd and 3rd. Both ambassadors expressed their support for the Order’s humanitarian mission and discussed ways to enhance collaboration.

Ambassador Garcia highlighted Cuba’s experience in disaster relief and health care, and how it could contribute to the Order’s efforts in providing aid to those in need. Ambassador Simpson, in turn, shared his insights on the Order’s work globally, and expressed his appreciation for Cuba’s commitment to humanitarian causes.

As the meeting concluded, both ambassadors expressed their shared commitment to developing further relations and to examine opportunities for further collaboration. They agreed to maintain regular communication and examine additional opportunities for working together on projects in areas of shared interest.
