In a gesture of gratitude, Ambassador Silvano Pedrollo received distinguished officials from the Diplomatic Ceremonial of the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba for a special lunch to thank them for the assistance provided during the protocol events. Accompanying Amb. Pedrollo at this lunch were H.E. Ambassador Hugo Ramos Milanes, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Jorge Luis Alfonso Ramos, Deputy Director of the Europe and Canada Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Alexander Quintana Canete, Diplomatic Ceremonial of the Presidency of the Republic of Cuba; Dr. Roberto Estaban Morales, Director General of Protocol; Dr. Silvia Colunga Martinez, Director General of Europe and Canada (which includes the Sovereign Military Order of Malta). Also present were Mrs. Olimpia Pizzolo, wife of Ambassador Pedrollo, and Salvador Miguel Porcaro, Second Counselor of the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Cuba.
The President of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, was presented with the letters of credential and recall from his predecessor by H.E. Silvano Pedrollo, the new Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Cuba. Also present at the event were Cuban Foreign Minister His Excellency Bruno Rodríguez and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, H.E. Silvano Pedrollo, was received in the Hall of Mirrors of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the distinguished Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Elio Rodríguez Perdomo, for the presentation of the Style Copies of the Credentials. During the protocol, Vice Minister Rodríguez Perdomo courteously received the style copy of the Credentials from Amb. Pedrollo. Subsequently, a colloquium was held where various topics of bilateral and global interest were addressed.
Acting chargé d'affaires, Counselor Antonio Acosta-Rua, journeyed to eastern Cuba where he met with the Most Reverend Dionisio García, Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba. During this visit, they engaged with numerous individuals, primarily the elderly, who benefit from the services provided by the Order of Malta. They also connected with those responsible for administering meals and other forms of assistance with profound care and compassion, thereby acknowledging the inherent dignity of every individual.
Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta Justin Simpson met with Ambassador Gisela Garcia Rivera, Director of Europe and Canada at Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), to discuss several topics of mutual interest. The productive meeting focused on the exchange of information, development of cooperation opportunities, and the upcoming Council Complete of State to elect a new Grand Master of the Order of Malta.
On March 20th, Ambassador Simpson met in Bratislava with the Cuban Ambassador to the Slovak Republic, H.E. Rafael P. Pino Bécquer. Ambassador Simpson was in Slovakia on the occasion of the opening of a centre of the Order of Malta for Roma children in Topol’čany. Present with Ambassador Simpson at the meeting was Mr. Dominik Brichta, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Slovak Republic.
Ambassador Justin Sterling Simpson visited a number of projects supported by the Cuban Association of the Sovereign Order of Malta in the Havana, Pinar del Rio and Matanzas regions.
The new Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta began his diplomatic mission, by paying his respects to the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Giampiero Gloder.
